Front Desk Coordinator / Accounts Receivable Specialist

Colon & Rectal Surgery Associates, Ltd., (CRSAL) a large, independent surgical specialty practice in the Twin Cities is seeking a Front Desk Coordinator / Accounts Receivable Specialist.
This full time non-exempt position is primarily located at our Corporate Office near Hwy 280 and University Ave. in St. Paul. The individual hired will also be asked to periodically work at clinic locations in Edina, Coon Rapids, Minneapolis, or St. Paul. Mileage is paid for additional travel.
While serving as a Front Desk Coordinator, you will work at the front reception desk and be the initial contact with patients at one of our clinic locations. In the Accounts Receivable Specialist role you will work with all areas of accounts receivables; including insurance, delinquent accounts, daily deposits, receipt an adjustment posting, collections, billing, and month-end processes.
Front Desk Coordinator duties include:
· Greet patients upon their arrival at the clinic
· Collect and enter patient registration and demographic information
· Serve as a liaison between the patient, clinic staff and the business office
· Coordinate efforts with the business office to handle patients with no insurance, prior collection problems, delinquent balances
· Scan registration paperwork, face sheets, medical insurance card copies, HIPAA forms etc
· Manage patient check out process including scheduling follow-up appointments, if needed,
A/R Specialist duties may include:
· Monitor and manage insurance claims to ensure prompt, accurate and maximum payment
· Evaluate medical record documentation to determine coding accuracy for claim resolution
· Monitor customer account details for non payment, delayed payments, credit balances or other account irregularities
· Review EOB payments, write off and rejections
· Prepare and document refund requests or credit balances
· Perform month end balancing in coordination with accounting department
· Post daily deposit for multiple entities
· Enter and post credit card payments
· Assist patients or insurances with queries on accounts, problem solving insurance processing issues
Requirements
· AA degree or equivalent experience and/or 3-4 years related medical billing experience or equivalent
· Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy ICD-9 codes and CPT
· Previous medical reception/medical office /or medical business office registration a plus
· Working knowledge of insurances (Medicare/Blue Shield/MN Medical Assistance/Healthpartners/Ucare/Medica etc)
· Demonstrate a high level of professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive information. Exhibit a high level of courtesy, tact and poise with interacting with patients, co-workers, other internal customers, visitors and healthcare professionals
· Excellent computer skills, multi-line phone, calculator.
· Effective verbal and written skills. Able to speak, read and write in English.
· Able to read, understand and follow written and verbal instructions
· Able to work independently and as part of a team
· Performs other duties as assigned by manager.
· Ability to transition from one task to another in a fast paced environment
· Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
· Ability to perform diversified clerical functions and basic accounting procedures
· Working knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel
· Tenacious
· Must have valid Driver’s license and good driving record in order to travel to alternate clinic/satellite locations as needed in a reliable and efficient manner
