Front Desk Coordinator – St. Paul
Independent surgical specialty practice in the Twin Cities is seeking a Front Desk Coordinator. Wage starting at $15.00 and up, commensurate with experience

This full time non-exempt position is primarily located at our St. Paul Clinic located off 35E and Roselawn Ave. (north of downtown St. Paul). Hours are typically Mon. – Fri. between 8:00 and 5:30 p.m., however occasional earlier hours may be required. The individual hired will also be asked to periodically work in a back up capacity at clinic locations such as Minneapolis, Edina, or Coon Rapids.  Parking and mileage for additional travel are paid.
As a Front Desk Coordinator, you will work at the front reception desk and be the initial contact with patients at one of our clinic locations. 
Front Desk Coordinator duties include:
  • Greet patients upon their arrival at the clinic
  • Collect and enter patient registration and demographic information
  • Serve as a liaison between the patient, clinic staff and the business office 
  • Coordinate efforts with the business office to handle patients with no insurance, prior collection problems, delinquent balances
  • Scan registration paperwork, face sheets, medical insurance card copies, HIPAA forms etc.
  • Manage patient check out process including scheduling follow-up appointments, if needed
This position may also provide back up support for the Accounts Receivable area including monitoring insurance claims to ensure prompt, accurate and maximum payments; monitoring customer account details for non payment, delayed payments, credit balances or other account irregularities; enter and post credit card payments; and assist patients or insurances with queries on accounts and problem solving insurance processing issues
  • 2 years previous experience in a medical clinic front desk coordinator, or reception or medical office billing position preferred
  • Must be patient focused and able to help patients feel welcomed and comfortable
  • Detail oriented with ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent computer skills, experience with NextGen Electronic Health Record system preferred
  • Demonstrated professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive patient information
  • Exhibit a high level of courtesy, tact and poise with interacting with patients, co-workers, other internal customers, visitors and healthcare professionals
  • Knowledge of health insurance plans
  • Cash management experience in order to process co-pays and request payments
  • Working knowledge of insurances preferred (e.g. Medicare/Blue Shield/MN Medical Assistance/Healthpartners/Ucare/Medica etc)
  • Effective verbal and written skills. Able to speak, read and write in English.      
  • Able to read, understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must have valid Driver’s license and good driving record in order to travel to alternate clinic/satellite locations as needed in a reliable and efficient manner
